Turns out my poll thing isnt working anymore…I think its since I upgraded my blog software. Sigh. Will keep trying to get it fixed.

In other news, last night the bf and I had a discussion about his upcoming proposal (he told me a while ago he’ll propose this year and that I may design the ring since he wants me to be happy with it). Of course with me designing the ring, meant he’d propose without one, and then we’d get started on the designing. But last night he mentioned he wanted to propose with a ring, so we decided we’d start looking at designs and possibly chatting to jewellery designers.

And today, by chance, I did some work for Megan Carr and she seemed excited and keen to help me, so looks like I’m taking the first steps to my engagement! Eeee! How exciting!
And the nice part is, if we do go with a design from Megan, she’s someone I know and like very much. Will make it more personal indeed! Also for both the bf and myself to be designing it together will make it special like nothing else can. And that makes me smile.

As for the design, I’m thinking along the lines of a wide-ish band, with an art nouveau and/or vintage feel to it. The links I’ve added are basic examples. I dont like every ring on that page, but the basic idea is there. I like the idea of it being earthy and different. I dont know why, but the elves from Lord of the Rings spring to mind when I think of the feel I want the ring to have. Maybe Lothlorien is my subconscious inspiration? Very untraditional, but it appeals to a holistic part of me deep within my being.

Obviously this wont be a rushed stage, and might easily take a few months, but the point is, its starting to happen and I’m feeling giddy!

Giddy giddy giddy!

Ooh you must be so excited! Love the rings… πŸ™‚ I saw mine in a jewellery store window and dragged my husband over there to see. 7 months later after he proposed I found out that he had gone back to the store the day after I showed it to him.

I am so happy for you!

Thanks πŸ™‚ I did the looking through jewellery shops and only found one that I liked and it was nothing exciting and also R10,500. For that amount, I’d rather design my own and make it one of a kind.

So sweet that your man went straight away to get the ring πŸ˜› What a catch! πŸ˜€
